Job Description Summary

GE HealthCare currently has an opportunity available for a Documentation Technical Writer at our location in State College, PA. This position will work closely with the Manufacturing and Engineering teams, as well as other departments and customers. You will create new documentation, update existing documentation, as well as harmonize processes and procedures across the organization. Qualified candidates will assist with the conversion of medical device history records from a manual/paper platform to a digital platform. This position reports to the Engineering Infrastructure Manager.

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

• Create and edit operational, instructional, and maintenance/test procedures for paper, digital, or web-based publication.
• Convert existing documentation into data collection plans for use in the digital record system.
• Communicate with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.
• Document engineering processes and specifications. Recommend formats, considering technical and customer requirements.
• Produce documentation that conforms to company documentation and quality standards.
• Interface with process owners to ensure documentation aligns with current best practices.
• Release and maintain documents in the PLM system.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent work experience as a technical writer or in generating documentation for medical devices.
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry, following mandatory processes (preferably in the medical device industry).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational skills (task tracking and reporting).
• Strong experience with Microsoft Office (including redlining) and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with document control software (preferably MyWorkshop PLM) is desirable.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
