SUMMARY

Provides liaison between the engineering department and other departments of the manufacturing division to ensure that the manufacture or purchase of products meets functional requirements at the lowest possible cost. Maintains constant surveillance over product design and manufacturing processes to reduce and control costs. Responsible for designing all special production machinery necessary to maintain manufacturing operations at competitive levels.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Reviews manufacturing operations and maintains a current project schedule that reflects current machine design requirements.
2. Designs and coordinates the manufacture and shakedown of all production machines and machine elements for process requirements where satisfactory purchased equipment is unavailable.
3. Surveys manufacturing operations to identify areas for process investigations and recommends process changes justified by cost studies.
4. Provides engineering advice, compiles data, and estimates probable costs for process improvement projects.
5. Reviews new designs during development and before issuing production drawings, recommending modifications to minimize costs and conform to production capabilities.
6. Determines manufacturing methods during new product design and suggests modifications for optimal manufacturing.
7. Provides engineering services to other departments as needed.
8. Generates 3D layouts using customer information.
9. Prepares fabrication drawings for manufacturing exhaust systems.
10. Provides CAD technicians with information and 3D layouts for fabrication drawings and cut lists; reviews drawings and orders processed by technicians.
11. Performs backpressure calculations, diffuser design reviews, water intake requirement reviews, temperature calculations, boat measuring duties for exhaust system design, weight calculations, and performs R&D and design improvements.
12. Supports the sales department with preliminary designs for potential customers and performs cost estimates of exhaust systems.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.

PROFICIENT/SKILLED IN:

• Detail-oriented skills
• Proficiency with computer software such as ALIBRE, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD
• Understanding of measurements
• Proficiency with Python and script development
• Being bilingual is a plus
