Join our collaborative, forward-thinking content team as we move beyond SEO to optimize for next-generation search and answer engines. You'll operate at the leading edge of Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), crafting strategic content for top travel brands including Expedia, Vrbo, and Hotels.com and reaching audiences wherever they search, from landing pages to social media to AI-powered discovery experiences.
As a senior content strategist, you will develop and drive research-led content strategies that maximize discovery both on our platforms and beyond (YouTube, social search, generative engines, etc.). Your expertise in both search intent and content experience will help travelers get the right information in any channel. You'll partner closely with SEO, Social Media, PR, Brand, Product, and Machine Learning teams to creatively solve for emerging trends in the search landscape, experiment with innovative formats, and inform scalable content initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Lead content research, ideation, and strategy development for AEO/GEOdriving discoverability on traditional search engines, generative/AI platforms, and social/video platforms (e.g., YouTube)
- Perform in-depth query, platform, and competitor analysis to uncover demand, intent, and emerging opportunities across web and external platforms
- Translate research and insights into actionable briefs and content recommendations across landing pages, video, social, and experimental formats
- Define and refine best practices for content optimization tailored to answer engines (including Google SGE, Bing Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) and platform-specific algorithms (YouTube, TikTok)
- Partner with teams to co-create innovative, scalable content solutions optimized for AEO/GEO
- Collaborate with analytics and data science teams to develop KPIs, measure content performance, and inform content iteration and testing
- Stay on top of AEO/GEO, GenAI, social search, and emerging discovery technology trendstranslating insights into competitive advantage
- Produce research findings, strategy decks, and reports for both leadership and cross-functional partners
- Mentor and influence peers within the content strategy team, sharing your expertise in answer engine and generative optimization
Experience and Qualifications:
- 6+ years of proven experience in content strategy, SEO, or a related digital field, with advanced hands-on work in research and strategy
- Strong expertise in both traditional SEO and next-gen AEO/GEO
- Demonstrated results driving content performance across web, social, and AI-powered environments (YouTube, TikTok, SGE, etc.)
- Proficient in keyword research, audience and platform insights, and strategic content planning
- Deep understanding of search intent, user journeys, and content structuring for multi-platform environments
- Exceptional communicatorskilled at distilling data and insights into compelling, actionable strategy
- Experience working cross-functionally with SEO, engineering, analytics, and creative teams
- Organized and adaptable, comfortable driving multiple projects at scale in a fast-moving environment
- Passion for travel, content, technology, and staying at the forefront of digital discovery trends
Preferred:
- Experience with generative AI, LLM content projects, or social/video optimization
- Knowledge of global content, localization, and accessibility best practices
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $110,500.00 to $155,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $177,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individuals knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
