Digital Media Strategist (Finance)

The ACLU Foundation of San Diego & Imperial Counties (ACLUF-SDIC) seeks a Digital Media Strategist.

The ACLUF-SDIC is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) civil liberties and civil rights organization working to advance equality, freedom, and justice through public education and litigation. Along with the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit involved in legislative lobbying, we are a prominent force for the protection and expansion of fundamental rights in California's second-most populous county (San Diego) and the county with the highest per capita Latina/o population (Imperial).

Our work spans across California's border with Mexico, collaborating with the National ACLU and other affiliates nationwide, as well as community organizations across the state and border region. We have a proven track record in impact litigation, policy advocacy, legislation, research, public education, strategic communications, and community organizing to achieve social change.

Position Summary:

The Digital Media Strategist will bring ACLUF-SDIC's mission to life across digital platforms by producing compelling multimedia content. Reporting to the Content Strategy Manager within the External Affairs team, the strategist will shape the organization’s online presence through social media, website content, videography, photography, and visual design.

This role involves managing online content, attending events to capture original media, and staying updated on social media trends to ensure content remains engaging and impactful.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Social Media Strategy & Execution:
    • Maintain and execute a social media calendar.
    • Create and publish high-quality, brand-aligned content.
    • Engage with audiences and respond to interactions.
    • Track and analyze performance metrics to improve outreach.
    • Stay informed on emerging social media trends and tactics.
  2. On-the-Ground Content Gathering:
    • Attend events and community actions to document work through photos and videos.
    • Capture visuals that reflect impacted communities and advocacy efforts.
    • Coordinate with the team to support campaigns and public awareness.
  3. Website Content & Management:
    • Update and enhance website content regularly.
    • Ensure content is engaging, organized, and accessible.
    • Monitor website performance and suggest improvements.
    • Assist with website migration processes.
  4. Design & Multimedia Production:
    • Create visual content such as graphics, infographics, and videos.
    • Produce videos from concept to final editing.
    • Maintain visual identity standards aligned with ACLU branding.
    • Support the development of branded templates and visual assets.
  5. Digital Infrastructure & Quality Control:
    • Ensure consistency and accuracy across all digital content.
    • Support content production systems and troubleshooting as needed.

This position is essential for amplifying the organization’s mission and engaging communities through innovative digital storytelling.
