Since 2009, The Dorm has been a mission-driven, client-centered mental health organization that has been bringing comprehensive, evidence-based treatment to young adults, ages 18-30. We are looking for a passionate Part-Time Junior Graphic Designer to join our multidisciplinary New York City team and contribute to our goal of making a difference.
We are seeking a Part-Time Junior Graphic Designer who is passionate about visual storytelling, brand identity, and bringing ideas to life across multiple creative mediums. This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes design, has a strong eye for aesthetics, and is excited to collaborate on projects that make an impact in the mental health space.
What You Will Do:
Bring ideas to life through creative storytelling by preloading, sketching, and conceptualizing visual content that blends words, illustration, and design into compelling narratives
Design engaging social media posts, digital campaigns, and email marketing assets that capture attention and drive engagement across platforms
Refresh and reimagine existing collateral, updating assets to reflect modern design trends while maintaining brand consistency
Develop layouts for one-pagers, flyers, presentations, and internal communications, ensuring clarity, creativity, and alignment with brand standards
Stay tapped into pop culture and design trends, introducing innovative ideas that keep our visuals fresh and relevant
Balance typography, color, hierarchy, and composition across print and digital to produce clean, striking, and professional designs
Collaborate closely with the Director of Creative Operations, proactively managing deadlines, check-ins, and incorporating feedback from stakeholders to deliver polished work
What You Need To Qualify:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Illustration, or a related creative field
Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
Illustration experience strongly preferred and video editing skills a plus
Solid understanding of design principles such as color, typography, composition, and hierarchy
A creative, curious, and confident artist who enjoys experimenting with different mediums and sharing their perspective
Collaborative and communicative with the ability to accept and apply feedback openly
Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines
Schedule: Up to 25 hours per week. This includes one in-person day on Wednesdays from 9 am to 5 pm, with the remaining hours worked remotely throughout the week.
Compensation: $30-35/hour, commensurate with experience.
