Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Designer with SolidWorks Expertise to join our product development team. This role is crucial for transforming concepts into manufacturable products by creating detailed 3D models and technical drawings. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SolidWorks and a holistic approach to design, considering critical factors such as user-oriented design, human factors engineering (HFE), safety, producibility, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Modeling: Utilize SolidWorks to create and refine 3D models and 2D drawings for mechanical components and complex assemblies. Ensure all models adhere to strict dimensional and tolerance requirements.
  • Integrate Key Design Principles:
    • User-Oriented Design & HFE: Design components with the end-user in mind, focusing on ergonomics, ease of use, and intuitive interfaces. Apply principles of Human Factors Engineering to create designs that are comfortable, safe, and efficient for the user.
    • Producibility: Collaborate closely with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are optimized for various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, 3D printing). Identify and eliminate potential production bottlenecks during the design phase.
    • Safety: Incorporate safety features and fail-safes into all designs. Conduct design reviews to mitigate potential risks and ensure the product meets all relevant safety standards and regulations.
    • Sustainability: Consider the environmental impact of design choices. Select materials and design components to be recyclable, reusable, and energy-efficient wherever possible, contributing to our sustainability goals.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, industrial designers, and project managers. Communicate design intent, rationale, and trade-offs clearly through presentations and technical documentation.
  • Documentation & Management: Maintain organized and version-controlled design files using SolidWorks PDM or a similar system. Prepare and present technical documentation and reports as needed. Responsible for ensuring proper incorporation of engineering change proposals and key member of configuration control boards.
