SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Grant Writer establishes, coordinates, and implements the County’s grant activities related to analysis of needs, identification of grant opportunities, determination of eligibility criteria, and drafting/submitting proposals to apply for financial grants from government departments, foundations, and other agencies.
The Grant Writer receives referrals and requests from County departments to research and prepare proposals for funding of projects. This role involves identifying funding sources, analyzing needs and benefits, reviewing eligibility requirements to determine overall feasibility, assessing funding priorities, and planning, organizing, and detailing the scope of potential proposals, including purpose, activities, timetables, and costs. The Grant Writer designs and describes project/program purposes, including activities, costs, and submission of proposal documents. Additionally, this position provides technical assistance to local municipalities and non-profit organizations related to grant activities and collaborates with County departments. The Grant Writer also acts as a liaison between the County and state/federal officials for grant approval and applications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Creative Writing, Public/Business Administration, or related area of study, and;
- Three to five years of grant writing experience, or;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Certified Grant Writer professional credentials from the American Grant Writer's Association Inc., or the ability to obtain such within the first year of employment.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of grant preparation, proposal submission, and fundraising processes, adhering to state and federal regulations.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other various Windows or web-based applications.
