Job Description

As an Advisor - Events Planner, you will be instrumental in orchestrating events that bring our partners’ visions to life. You will coordinate with territory office teams, Divisional Leadership, enterprise employees, and global donors of ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Your role involves collaborating with stakeholders to craft iconic St. Jude Signature Events (Galas, Golf, Dinners) using industry best practices. These events aim to create seamless, engaging experiences that deepen the connection with the St. Jude mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Serve as co-lead for major market events such as the Houston Gala, Houston Golf Classic, and Houston Crawfish Boil. Provide strategic support for other large donor-facing events like the Houston Walk and San Antonio Gala.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders to create engaging, mission-centered event experiences.
  • Expense Management: Manage event expenses and develop cost-saving strategies.
  • Problem Solving: Address complex, non-recurring problems with innovative solutions.
  • Policy Adherence: Follow ALSAC policies, analyze problems, and adapt guidelines to achieve desired outcomes. Make policy recommendations and escalate exceptions.
  • Event Management: Provide resources for logistics of internal/external events, including design, décor, food/beverage, and vendor management for mid to high-tier events. Collaborate with Marketing for branded collateral.
  • Research & Negotiation: Conduct market research, gather information, negotiate, and manage projects within budget and time constraints.
  • Efficiency: Recommend process improvements for cost savings.
  • Customer Service: Handle issues proactively, troubleshoot on event day, and liaise with clients to ensure satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years relevant experience, or 7-8 years related work experience in lieu of education.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with seating and auction software preferred.
  • Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) or Event Professional Certification preferred.
  • Travel requirement: 30%.
  • Valid driver’s license required. The role includes a company car with AAA membership, insurance, maintenance, and fuel card, available for personal use. Details available during interview.

This position offers a hybrid schedule, working from our Houston office at 5847 San Felipe Suite 2325, Houston, TX 77057.
