Essential Job Functions: Assists patrons with library materials and performs other library-related tasks. Helps the public with the correct use of catalog, copy machine, and microfilm equipment; assists in locating books, periodicals, and other materials; maintains library materials in proper shelf order; processes materials for library files; prepares statistical reports; types assigned reports; assists with other library records management or projects; answers phones.

Other Job Functions: Maintains and assists with processing materials; may assist with story times and programs for preteens, teens, and adults; performs other library and clerical functions as required. This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this role. It is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required.

Work environment is normal office setting. Approximately twenty (20) hours per week. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, hours vary. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Knowledge: Knowledge of library techniques and procedures is desired.

Skills/Abilities: Effective communication; ability to follow written and oral instructions; operate equipment including adding machines and PCs; type at 30 wpm accurately; communicate tactfully with the public; maintain library and archival records; alphabetize and perform mathematical calculations; read and make decisions.

Physical Requirements: Constantly files, sees, hears, sits, and sorts; frequently cleans desk area; performs data entry; kneels; operates PC; pushes objects weighing up to 60 lbs.; stands; stoops; types; walks; writes by hand; infrequently operates calculator; carries, holds, lifts, drags, and pulls objects weighing up to 30 lbs.; squats and twists body.

Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent; minimum six (6) months of library or records management experience, including typewriter and/or PC experience.

Data Entry and a library skills test will be administered. Selected applicants will be subject to drug/alcohol testing.
