Seton Hall University Libraries is seeking a forward-thinking Electronic Resources Librarian to work collaboratively as part of the Collection Services team. The Electronic Resources Librarian will have outstanding project management, organizational, and communication skills to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues and vendors. Working closely with the Assistant Dean for Information Technologies and Collection Services, Acquisitions Librarian, and Cataloging Librarian, the incumbent will play a key role in all aspects of the electronic resources lifecycle to ensure seamless user experience for access and discovery of library resources. This is a tenure track position; an additional graduate degree, scholarship, and service are required for consideration for tenure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with Acquisitions Librarian and Cataloging Librarian to manage the full lifecycle of electronic resources: licensing, purchase, maintenance, access, authentication, renewal and cancelation workflows
  • Manage and curate electronic resource holdings in the Library's Electronic Resource Management (ERM) and discovery services
  • Manage authentication and allocation of resources in OpenAthens
  • Create and maintain workflows, best practices, and documentation to manage electronic and subscription resources
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with electronic resources, working with vendors, campus IT, staff, and/or patrons
  • Analyze the Libraries' discovery services through assessing user needs, analyzing usage data, and user testing
  • Create annual and on demand usage statistics for e-resources, using Counter compliant standards
  • Supervise staff assigned to electronic resources workflows and student library assistants
  • Keep current on electronic resources management and relevant scholarly communications topics
  • Participate in teaching and reference as needed
  • Other library duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited degree program. Second master's degree, scholarly activity, and service will be required for tenure.
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience working with electronic resource management
  • Knowledge of Basic understanding of licensing and copyright issues
  • Supervisory experience 1-3 years
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills (verbally, writing, and listening)
  • Experience with electronic resource management, link resolvers, OpenAthens
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, large datasets, and preparing reports.
  • Monitor trends and best practices related to electronic resource access, discoverability, data harvesting, usage analysis, and preservation to enhance library services.
  • Experience with retrieving and analyzing COUNTER data

    Licenses and Certificates:

  • Experience using MarcEdit, OpenRefine, and/or Python
  • Experience with Tableau or PowerBI
  • Experience with SPSS or STATA
  • Reading knowledge of a second language
  • Experience with data management and data curation practices
  • Experience with license agreements
  • Experience with UX research
  • Knowledge of EBSCO suite of tools

    Salary Range:

    $61,767 to $68,630

    Exempt/Nonexempt: Exempt

    Physical Demands: General Office Environment
