Description
The New Jersey State Library seeks a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative leader to help lead its Research Library. Under the direction of the Director of the Research Library, the Associate Director organizes, plans, and directs key library services and programs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff to increase visibility and promote the library's value to state officials and TESU staff and students. The team manages print and digital collections, including special collections like Law, New Jersey Documents, U.S. Documents, Jerseyana, and Genealogy.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing library services and staff, streamlining workflows, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Partnering with the Director to structure workload and develop collection policies.
- Overseeing collections, assessing trends, and managing budgets.
- Cultivating partnerships beyond the library.
- Leading projects supporting the library's goals and building external partnerships.
- Navigating interagency relationships and representing the library externally.
- Leading in the Director's absence and participating in committees and events.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Understanding of contemporary library operations and innovations.
- Experience in strategic partnerships, leadership, project management, and customer service.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and technological skills.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies or equivalent.
- Four years of professional library experience, including management.
- Possession of or eligibility for a NJ State Professional Librarian Certificate.
