As a key member of The Journey team, this role provides comprehensive audio production support including the creation of station promos, dynamic imaging, and engaging podcasts. Responsible for producing and hosting pre-recorded weekend shows and ensuring high-quality, listener-focused programming. Additionally, this role acts as a versatile on-air talent, serving as a backup host for both morning and mid-day shows as needed.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Produce station promos and underwriting spots.
  • Produce creative imaging elements that engage listeners.
  • Operate audio console and automation/voice tracking systems.
  • Edit audio using Adobe Audition.
  • Voice track Sunday Worship Connection show.
  • Attend events and concerts as determined by General Manager.
  • Plan and conduct interviews with musical artists and other guests.
  • Build industry relationships and remain informed about current trends.
  • Attend professional development events in person or remotely.
  • Additional on-air hosting duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the university in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s Christian model and Mission – Training Champions for Christ.

Qualifications And Credentials

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in broadcasting or related field.
  • 5+ years audio production and on-air hosting experience.

ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES ESSENTIAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE JOB

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.

Problem Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Required to travel locally and regionally for events and conferences.
  • Regularly required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Must possess excellent auditory skills to accurately detect and interpret various sounds, such as pitch, tone, clarity, and spatial cues, to identify technical audio problems, maintain creative content quality, and communicate clearly with team members in fast-paced broadcast settings.
  • Must possess exceptional visual acuity, including the ability to see fine details and accurately distinguish colors, to identify visual defects, maintain the creative and technical quality of video content, and carry out precise tasks such as equipment installation, signal monitoring, and system calibration.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment may include facilitation of outdoor events occasionally.

Driving Requirements

If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position
