Disney Experiences (DX) is experiencing unprecedented expansion, requiring diverse and innovative digital marketing strategies and activations. The proliferation of digital platforms, streaming services, social media, introduction of generative AI, and changing consumer habits have created a fertile ground for engaging audiences in new ways. As a result, DX is looking for a Director of Social Media to capitalize on the opportunities in and adjacent to paid, organic, and influencer/affiliate media. Reporting to the Vice President of Digital Media & Activation, you will lead our Social media practice and teams across Disney Experiences.
In this executive level role, you will lead a group of 30+ team members responsible for building and delivering on social media strategies that drive the expansive growth expected of our Disney Experiences businesses. Your teams will manage all paid and organic activity across approximately 100 accounts/handles on platforms including Facebook/Instagram, YouTube, X, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Sprinklr (organic), and Commission Junction (affiliate). You will also co-develop and lead approaches to optimize Social Search behaviors.
The role supports over 20 DX businesses, such as Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, Disney Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney, Nat Geo Expeditions, Disney Store (DTC ecommerce), and more. A key aspect of success in this role is building exceptional partnerships within the organization, including with our Planning team, in-house creative agency Yellow Shoes, Analytics team (CIMA), Marketing/Commercial Strategy, Synergy, Public Affairs, and Public Relations. There is also potential to collaborate across Disney with other business units for specific initiatives.
Responsibilities: Lead DX Experiences Social (paid + organic), Disney Consumer Products Social (paid + organic), and Affiliate/Influencer Marketing.
Oversee large media budgets and organic strategies to ensure maximum return on investment.
Co-develop and lead our approach to Social Search in both paid and organic domains.
Serve as an organizational expert on paid and organic social strategies, including influencer marketing, community management, affiliate programs, and generative AI opportunities in social media.
Build strong partnerships across DX with Planning, Yellow Shoes, CIMA, Synergy, Public Affairs, and Public Relations.
Foster holistic social partnerships across Disney, including with Disney+ and other platforms.
Lead the vision for social partner relationships, platform innovations, and technology adoption to stay at the forefront of social media trends.
Manage long-term partnerships with social media platforms and partners, including leading cross-LOB deals within Walt Disney Company.
Define organizational and team vision for mastering the evolving paid/organic social landscape.
Lead, coach, and mentor your team, cultivating future leaders.
Drive the integration of recent social media approaches into the organization, leveraging data and analytics for optimization.
Identify opportunities for Disney Experiences to participate in cultural moments and foster cultural connections through social media.
Qualifications: 12+ years of digital marketing experience.
Expertise in paid social, organic social, affiliate marketing, community management, and influencer marketing.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
Experience with cutting-edge social media strategies and innovations.
Cross-channel digital media expertise beyond social and affiliate marketing.
Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the complex DX social media landscape.
Education: Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience. Degrees in Marketing, Communications, Social Media, Analytics, or Statistics are a plus.
