The Department of Visual Arts at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Global Contemporary Art to begin in August 2026. The candidate will teach courses in Modern Art (post 1800), Contemporary Art (1940-present), and introductory courses to Art History. This position seeks a scholar with deep engagement in the arts who specializes in any geographic area but who takes a global perspective, and who emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches that bridge traditional art histories and contemporary culture. The ideal candidate will explore themes such as global artistic exchanges, museum practices, social issues and social justice, and environmentalism. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and research, as well as fostering inclusive and diverse learning environments. The position offers opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations across the College, and would engage with the Prior Performing Arts Center and Cantor Art Gallery. This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a research leave prior to tenure review of either a full year at 80% salary or a semester at full salary, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. To enable a smooth transition to Holy Cross, new full-time tenure-track Assistant Professors receive start-up funding to support their research and professional development and have a one-course reduction in their first year of teaching (i.e., 2-2). This position offers full benefits and a starting salary in the range of $101,850 to $103,850. Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and undergraduate teaching as well as a commitment to inclusive pedagogies. Ph.D. required by the beginning of the appointment.
