WBIR-TV Knoxville, the NBC TEGNA affiliate, seeks an experienced Multiskilled Journalist to uphold our tradition of superior reporting. We want a creative storyteller capable of producing compelling stories across multiple platforms, combining excellent photography and editing skills. A valid driver’s license and ability to operate a news gathering vehicle are required.
Responsibilities
- Perform live shots during developing stories or breaking news
- Develop story ideas and source community contacts
- Identify, write, and produce stories within given frameworks
- Research facts and maintain credibility
- Maintain and develop sources to enhance reporting
- Shoot, write, produce, and edit content for on-air and online platforms within deadlines
- Utilize creative production techniques, including graphics and new media forms
- Use social media and digital tools for research and content distribution
- Participate in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas
- Write engaging and authentic content
Requirements
- 1-3 years reporting experience preferred
- Strong news judgment, communication, creativity, and ethical decision-making skills
- Excellent writing and production skills; TEASE writing abilities
- Experience with ENPS, EDIUS, and Axis graphics preferred
- Organized, able to meet deadlines, and handle live breaking news calmly
- Proven social and digital content creation skills
- Knowledge of Knoxville is a plus
