Job Summary
The research and data services department at the J. Willard Marriott Library is seeking an event coordinating assistant for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. This is a grant-funded position that will be responsible for scheduling, promotion, logistics, and other aspects of event planning and logistics for a total of 10 in-person events.
For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted.
Responsibilities
Scheduling (through established library channels):
- Rooms and spaces for each event
- A.V. support for hybrid events
- Communication and coordination with invited speakers from the
University of Utah and external institutions - Collaboration with external institutions for invited speaker’s travel and
accommodation
- Circulation of surveys for campus researchers and event attendee’s
- Develop promotional materials for events
- Collaborate with event partners to circulate promotional materials
Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.
Preferences
- Majoring in marketing, communications, or related area
- Experience in event coordination and/or promotion
- Interest in event planning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
