Ready for the first step into management? An exciting opportunity for an experienced and customer-service oriented Assistant Manager at the Martin Regional Library is available! The Assistant Manager works closely with the Branch Manager to oversee the total operation of the Library as well as supervising the Library in the absence of the Branch Manager. The Assistant Manager participates in long-range planning for the regional library; helps direct the selection, development, and evaluation of staff; supervises the work of assigned reference staff, and oversees assigned reference collections and activities.

Location: 2601 S. Garnett Rd. Tulsa, OK. 74129
Salary: $4,717.00 - $5,900.00 / Month - Pay is commensurate with experience
Status: Full Time
Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 8 am - 5 pm (occasional evenings)
Friday 8 am - 5 pm or 9 am - 6 pm (rotating)
Rotating Saturdays and Sundays
Key functions of this role include:
- Supervises, trains, develops and evaluates a high performance team organized to meet the goals and objectives of the regional library;
- Works with branch manager and team leaders in interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, and evaluating staff;
- Provides quality service to customers through own and team members efforts including defining individual responsibilities, determining priorities and deadlines, training staff, and evaluating the quality and effectiveness of their work;
- Serves as an intermediary in helping to resolve the most challenging issues or situations with members of the public;
- Under the supervision of the Branch Manager, conducts staff meetings, communicating management decisions, policies, and changes/corrections to activities, programs or processes;
- Assists in preparation and administration of the regional library’s annual budget;
- Assists in supervising the condition and security of the physical building and advises appropriate personnel when corrective action is necessary;
- Provides customer assistance and general readers’ advisory for all ages and oversees plans and preparation of displays and decorations in assigned areas;
- Assists with meeting room booking process, particularly when clarification of policies and procedures is required;
- May be assigned to any branch, outlet or community space;
- Master of Library and Information Studies Degree required;
- Three or more years experience required;
- One year of supervisory experience preferred;
- Or equivalent combination of technical training, education or experience.
Work occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
Work environment involves occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperature and air conditions. The job may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, such as occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of video display terminals
