The News Photographer operates television or video cameras to record images or scenes for news reports.

Job Description

• Shoots video for news reports
• Confers with news, weather, & sports staff to discuss assignments, logistics and shot requirements
• Sets up, composes and executes video shots
• Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content
• Operates live microwave truck and TVU Backpack gear for remote situations
• Conducts interviews with dignitaries, business managers, elected officials, as well as regular citizens, and homeless people
• Listens to scanners for breaking news events
• Responds quickly and shoots video in intense situations
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills

• High school diploma
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to ask questions in a professional manner
• Minimum one year experience operating video recording equipment
• Proficiency with all electronics
• Proficiency with video editing software – Adobe Premier
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Flexibility to work any shift
