The Audio Visual (AV) Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality audio and visual experiences for events, meetings, and multimedia projects. This position is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of AV equipment and systems, supporting live and virtual events, and providing technical expertise to meet organizational needs. By delivering seamless AV solutions, the specialist enhances communication, collaboration, and audience engagement across various platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and Operation of AV Equipment: Install, configure, and operate audio, video, and lighting systems for events, presentations, and conferences. Ensure proper setup and functionality of projectors, microphones, sound systems, video conferencing tools, and displays.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide on-site and remote technical support for AV equipment and systems, addressing issues promptly to minimize downtime. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems related to AV systems.
- System Maintenance and Upgrades: Conduct regular maintenance, testing, and calibration of AV equipment to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with vendors and staff to patch, maintain, and upgrade equipment and software, replacing outdated components as needed.
- Training and Documentation: Train staff and users on AV equipment use. Develop and maintain user guides, operational manuals, and system documentation.
- Event Coordination and Collaboration: Work with event planners, IT teams, and stakeholders to meet AV needs. Coordinate schedules and logistics for seamless support during live events and recordings.
Other duties as assigned. The employee will work under limited supervision, following established policies and procedures. Some after-hours, weekend, and emergency on-call work may be required, with agency-provided cellular device support.
Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and experience in automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, or repair. Equivalent experience may substitute for a degree on a year-for-year basis. Recognized institutions of higher learning are required.
Additional Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and relevant experience in IT or communication systems.
- Knowledge of enterprise network environments, IT support techniques, and documentation.
- Ability to establish working relationships, communicate effectively, and demonstrate organizational skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Valid driver's license; some travel within South Carolina, including occasional overnight stays.
