Enterprise Marketing and Communications is seeking to hire a Video Producer.

As VCU’s integrated communications and marketing office, the Division of Enterprise Marketing and Communications thrives on collaboration and innovation. This position reports to the Manager of Video Production and supports the strategic goals of the enterprise and responsibilities of the division through the creation of innovative video stories.

Create/produce engaging, memorable video stories that align with and promote the strategic priorities of the VCU Health enterprise and strengthen and protect the VCU Health brand.

Collaborate regularly with the service line marketing leaders, the public relations team and as needed with the AVP of VCU Health Strategy and Marketing to identify stories with strong video potential and determine the optimal way to produce them.

Once video stories are identified, work independently, or with the rest of the video team to complete the production - which may involve managing the project from start to finish with guidance from the director.

During all phases of production, explore novel approaches/techniques to ensure the productions unique and memorable.

Produce a growing library of Physician Provider Biography videos.

Assist with productions involving senior leadership and ensure attire and presentation are professional and appropriate.

Assist video manager with developing the annual video budget and making purchasing decisions.

Serve as resource liaison with outsourced video production companies as needed.

Create motion graphics and animations to enhance visual storytelling. Collaborate regularly with the Brand and Design Manager for design consistency and coordinate the use of all motion graphics within VCU Health EMC.

Maintain project tracking software for individual assignments.

Stay abreast of industry trends and standards.

Qualifications Minimum Hiring Standards

A bachelor’s degree in film/photography, broadcast communications, or related field

or an equivalent combination of college and related experience.

Motion picture professional and strong visual storyteller with 5 years of experience

in a professional video production environment producing high end, broadcast quality videos.

Proven experience in all phases of video production – from conception to finished product including, scripting, camera setup and operation, lighting, sound and post-production editing.

Ability to manage a production from script to finished product.

Demonstrated knowledge of various types of ENG, EFP 4K cameras required.

Demonstrated knowledge of one or more types of post-production software

to include; Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve.

Knowledge of Macintosh operating systems and file storage management required.

Demonstrated proficiency of Adobe After Effects.

Ability to work in a fast pace, deadline driven, team-oriented environment. Must be self-

motivated and able to solve problems with creative solutions.

Must be able to effectively coordinate multiple projects concurrently.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Must submit a portfolio of work demonstrating high-quality video standards, skills and compelling storytelling ability.

Preferred Hiring Standards

Motion picture professional and strong visual storyteller with at least 7+ years proven experience in a professional video production environment producing high end, broadcast quality videos.

Thorough knowledge of all phases of production from conception to finished product including, concepting, scripting, interviewing, camera setup and operation, lighting, sound and post-production editing.

Demonstrated knowledge of various types of ENG, EFP 4K and 6K cameras required.

Knowledge of Sony cameras is preferred.

Should be proficient in the use of various post production software, including Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve.

Demonstrated proficiency of Adobe After Effects and ability to design and animate 2D and 3D imagery.

Ability to successfully manage a project from beginning to end. FAA 107 certified for UAS video production, familiar with DJI drones.

Experience producing video in a medical center environment - including emergency and operating rooms, intensive care units and clinics preferred.

Understanding of federal regulations regarding patient privacy preferred.

Familiarity working with patients and sensitive visuals – including graphic operating room scenes preferred.
