Job Description:
The Part-Time Technologist C will perform service, maintenance, and repair of sewing and sewing-related equipment. This position is critical to the operation of the Fashion department by ensuring the safe and functional use of specialized equipment such as sewing machines, sergers, and industrial irons.

Salary
Salary: $39.17 per hour
The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. Hiring Salary: $39.17 per hour with step increments per Salary Schedule 91, after 18 months of service and annually thereafter.
Work Schedule
Days/Hours: M-F 5-9:30 PM, Sat 9 AM-1 PM, Sun 9 AM-12:30 PM; 32 weeks per year; 25 hours per week; in person; work schedule subject to change based on needs of the department.

The working conditions for this position will be any combination of an office space, classroom. or lab. This position may be exposed to chemicals and machinery. The physical requirement for this position will require frequent sitting, constant standing, constant bending or twisting, constant walking, occasional climbing, constant pulling, pushing, and reaching, frequent repetitive motions, constant lifting up to 50 lbs., occasionally lifting over 50 lbs., and constant use of hands to handle tools or controls.

Job Description:
The Part-Time Technologist C will perform service, maintenance, and repair of sewing and sewing-related equipment. This position is critical to the operation of the Fashion department by ensuring the safe and functional use of specialized equipment such as sewing machines, sergers, and industrial irons.
Responsibilities
- Repair machinery in studio labs for Fashion.
- Work with faculty to organize classrooms for the specific course needs on a semester-by-semester basis.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on equipment in accordance with an established maintenance schedule.
- Assist students with replacing needles, threading machines, and removing jams, as well as issues with dress forms and steam stations.
- Maintain an accurate record of service history, repairs, and maintenance.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree required.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a related field or role.
- Must demonstrate hand skills and practical fluency with sewing machines and irons.
- Knowledge of relevant machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- This position requires a strong initiative and the ability to follow through, oversee and complete projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
- Ability to constantly sit and stand, frequently bend, walk and lift 50 lbs. or less.
