YouthBuild Boston is a transformative education and workforce development program serving young adults, ages 1624, who have faced barriers to completing high school or accessing stable career opportunities. The program combines academic instruction, vocational training, leadership development, and community service to empower students to earn their high school diploma or equivalent, gain marketable skills in construction and other high-demand sectors, and prepare for postsecondary education or meaningful careers. YouthBuild Boston emphasizes holistic support, including mentorship, career guidance, and personal development, fostering resilient, confident, and socially responsible graduates who can contribute to their communities. The VISTA will develop and manage strategic communication and volunteer programs by creating a social media and newsletter strategy, producing content that highlights organizational impact, and training staff on messaging. They will design, implement, and evaluate corporate and individual volunteer programs, including recruitment, orientation, scheduling, and tracking systems, to maximize volunteer engagement and support academic and career initiatives for students. The VISTA will document processes and outcomes to ensure sustainable systems for future staff and volunteers. Member Duties : The VISTA will strengthen YouthBuild Bostons organizational capacity by designing and implementing sustainable systems to enhance volunteer engagement, communications, and career development programs. Responsibilities include developing a comprehensive social media and newsletter strategy to showcase program impact, creating recruitment materials, and establishing long-term processes for volunteer coordination and engagement. The VISTA will also support career readiness by developing tools and curricula, coordinating mentorship and professional development opportunities, and fostering partnerships with local employers, trade unions, and educational institutions. They will document all processes, create toolkits, and train staff to ensure sustainability beyond the VISTA term, ultimately increasing organizational reach, volunteer participation, and student success outcomes.
