At Burke Construction Group, we pride ourselves on continuous evolution. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Technical Proposal Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing clear, persuasive, and technically accurate proposals, qualifications packages, and related documents that respond to Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Qualifications (RFQs), and other client solicitations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the construction industry, the proposal process, and the ability to translate technical information into compelling content that highlights our capabilities, experience and approach.


Daily Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, edit and format technical proposals, RFQs and RFP responses for public and private construction projects.
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, engineers, and executives to gather project-specific technical information.
  • Translate complex technical content into clear, client-focused, and persuasive narratives.
  • Coordinate proposal schedules, deliverables and deadlines to ensure timely submission.
  • Maintain a library of standard proposal content, resumes, project sheets, and graphics for use in future proposals.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, RFP/RFQ instructions, and company brand/style guidelines.
  • Support business development and marketing teams with technical writing, capability statements, and presentations.
  • Edit and proofread documents for accuracy, clarity and consistency.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with design-build, CMAR, and hard-bid procurement processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style to different audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe InDesign (preferred).
  • Knowledge of construction terminology, methods, and industry standards.
  • Experience working with proposal management software (e.g.,Deltek Vision, Cosential, Open Asset).
  • Graphic design skills to enhance proposal layouts and visuals.
  • Prior experience writing for government/public agency construction RFPs and SOQs.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in construction, engineering, or architecture industry.
