Principal UX Designer

At GoodLeap, we build technology that makes sustainable home upgrades attainable—and we need an experienced Principal UX Designer to help us realize the next generation of our product portfolio. As a Principal UX designer, you’ll develop a deep understanding of our users, inform product strategy, and deliver exceptional experiences across critical product surfaces. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to translate user insights into actionable design solutions, ensuring that our products not only meet user needs but also push the boundaries of innovation.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Define and own the design direction and vision for key product surfaces, setting the vision for the near, medium, and long term to ensure a cohesive and impactful user experience across all touchpoints.
- Work closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to help shape and execute the vision for GoodLeap's product portfolio, ensuring we’re delivering high-impact solutions.
- Deepen our understanding of customers and end-users by leading research and analyzing data, helping to inform decisions that improve the products we build.
- Foster growth within the design team, supporting individual development and encouraging a collaborative environment where creative thinking thrives.
- Champion design across the organization, advocating for user-centered thinking and ensuring that design is always at the forefront of product decisions, from strategy to execution.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Set vision and strategy: Define and articulate long-term design directions for complex product areas, ensuring design excellence contributes directly to business growth and customer success.
- Drive impact across business units: Lead design efforts that span multiple products, platforms, or initiatives—creating coherence and elevating the overall quality of the user experience across the ecosystem.
- Elevate design standards: Establish and evangelize best practices in interaction, visual, and service design; set the bar for design craft and user-centered innovation across the organization.
- Mentor and amplify others: Serve as a trusted coach to senior designers and cross-functional peers, multiplying the impact of design talent across teams.
- Demonstrate expertise in learning about our users: Champion effective user research, ensuring insights deeply inform strategy and are operationalized across product development.
- Innovate through experimentation: Drive a culture of rapid prototyping and hypothesis-driven design, piloting breakthrough ideas that inspire the organization and redefine customer expectations.
$190,000 - $215,000 a year
In addition to the above salary, this role may be eligible for a bonus and equity.
