POSITIONSUMMARY:
Reporting to the Assistant UniversityLibrarian for Access Services, the primary purpose of this position is to serveas the main point of contact for Gumberg Library's interlibrary loan service,EZBorrow. This position supports accurate stacks maintenance andmaintains accurate and up-to-date records for library-to-library resourcesharing and library-to-patron local lending. Thisposition supports the accuracy of the Access Services Department's onlinepresence on Gumberg Library's website. In addition, this positionprovides comprehensive customer service at any service point (physical orvirtual) and resolve patron issues while supporting a welcoming and helpfulatmosphere at Gumberg.As a member of the Access Services Department, this position isexpected to respond to emergencies, alarms, and other work-related issues whichrequire swift problem resolution
Work schedule is 35 hours per week and may includeevening, weekend, and holiday hours.
DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees lending, borrowing, and shipping processes of EZBorrowsharing, following consortial rules and guidelines for loan times and billingand serve as main point of contact for complex questions and issue resolutionregarding the EZBorrow service and the ReShare software for Duquesne Universityusers as well as our lending library partners.
Routinely serve asstaff-on-duty, staffing various service points and responding to emergencies,alarms, and other work-related issues which require swift problem resolution.Effectively communicate issues, developments, and ideas for improvement to theAUL for Access Services, the Access Services Manager, and colleagues bycompleting the staff-on-duty report after each shift, reading others' reportsat the beginning of each shift, participating in weekly ASD staff meetings andone-on-one meetings with the AUL for Access
Participates in the demonstration of library servicesto the campus community.
Trains new and existing full-time andpart-time ASD staff on EZBorrow processing, as well as share any updates orintegrations that may impact these processes or those of our other resourcesharing services.
Run weekly search lists for missing items and followup on the results of the searches to support accurate stacks maintenance.
Keep FOLIO patron records up-to-date andcommunicate with patrons concerning billing and replacements. Add replacementfees to patron accounts and adds delinquent payments to student accountsthrough Banner. Routinely reconcile the online credit card payments with theFOLIO patron account.
Coordinates externally with appropriatecontacts at partner libraries concerning borrowing and lendingissues such as sending and requesting invoices as necessary. Coordinateinternally with Collections and Metadata Services, the Director of Business andAdministration, as well as department heads concerning billing and replacementitems.
Under the direction of the Access Services Manager,assist in the supervision of duties carried out by student staff at theCirculation Desk, or in training and supervising specific tasks related tostacks maintenance or resource sharing.
Actively engage in position-relatedprofessional development: keep abreast of any changes to current practices orpolicies by monitoring the PALCI/EZBorrow communication channels and attendingEZBorrow community meetings; serve onposition-related committee memberships, such as the EZBorrow Advisory Counciland Interlibrary Delivery Service for Pennsylvania (IDS) board; seek ways tosupport Gumberg Library's established role as an EZBorrow member libraryactively engaged in improving access to research materials for our patrons andour consortial partners.
AssistsAUL for Access Services in maintaining the accuracy of the public-facing ASDweb pages for resource sharing services.
Serveson relevant library and University committees and/or task forces as staffrepresentative for ASD.
Assists with specialprojects and other duties as assigned
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Highschool diploma or equivalent.
Current experience: minimum of 2 years working in a public servicearea of a library, or any equivalent combination of experience and training,which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform theessential job functions
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is notlimited to, the following:
Experience in academic and/or researchlibrary using software and databases as well as the ability to use thesesystems compile and manage data.
Ability to maneuver 35 lb. book carts and move books, including reaching andlifting.
Ability to establishand maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
