Chenega Professional Services SBU is looking for a Proposal Writer responsible for authoring and editing content for proposals and responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs for current and potential clients. The Proposal Writer works with key stakeholders both independently and as part of a team to develop proposal sections, such as, but not limited to: corporate and executive summaries, past performance volumes, technical approaches, management plans, business proposals, and other documents supporting the overall proposal effort.

Responsibilities

  1. Research information across various areas and describe principles, operations, and concepts clearly and simply.
  2. Collaborate with essential team members to derive storyboards, outlines, win themes, approaches, methodologies, and strategies.
  3. Interview and work directly with subject matter experts, program managers, and the business development team to collect, tailor, and translate content, ensuring appropriate messaging and compliance with solicitation documentation including RFPs, RFTOPs, Amendments, and Q&A.
  4. Rewrite text to ensure clarity, consistency, and compliance in a timely manner following established RFP processes.
  5. Coordinate and manage efforts of multiple contributors.
  6. Create and utilize proposal templates following Chenega standards and best practices.
  7. Write original text and edit technical data prepared by others.
  8. Maintain documentation within SharePoint for future reference.
  9. Ensure proposals are compliant, well-formatted, and aligned with Chenega standards.
  10. Ensure timely and accurate completion of all work.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • 0-2 years of experience as a full-time technical writer.
  • Experience authoring college or professional articles, proposals responding to government RFPs, RFIs, or similar documents in federal contracting or government environments is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent grammar and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently author proposal sections focusing on compliance, quality, and timeliness.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills, with knowledge of industry proposal best practices.
  • Creativity, flexibility, organization, time management, and listening skills.
  • Adherence to internal proposal development and RFP response deadlines.
  • Compliance with all processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure team environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with business development executives on projects like white papers, website content, and marketing materials.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including document structure, styles, templates, charts, and graphs; experience with Microsoft Teams.
  • Knowledge of federal government contracting.
