The Senior Editor will join the Creative Team to produce educational, entertaining and compelling narrative video formats, highlighting Colossal’s work. This role requires advanced post-production skills, including motion graphic and visual effects design, sound design and mixing, color grading and exceptional storytelling intuition. As part of the Creative Team, this role will develop content in a variety of formats to bring cutting-edge science to diverse audiences, fostering a deeper understanding and engagement with the groundbreaking work happening at Colossal.
This position is based full-time on-site in Dallas, TX. Relocation assistance is available.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Edit and produce stunning, engaging, and accessible narratives that translate complex scientific concepts into persuasive storytelling, across both longform YouTube content and short form social media formats.
- Integrate advanced motion graphics, 2D/3D animations, and other VFX to elevate storytelling and create immersive visuals.
- Harness the latest storytelling techniques, formats, and trends to capture attention in the feed and drive meaningful engagement.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, strategy, and creative teams to achieve company mission and objectives.
- Manage project organization, maintaining timelines, asset libraries and creative feedback loops to ensure efficient delivery and high quality output.
- Leverage technical expertise in encoding, rendering and multi-format export for various formats and distribution platforms.
- Utilize technical expertise in encoding, rendering, and export to ensure content is optimized for a wide range of formats and platforms.
- Participate in planning and creative development sessions to contribute creative and technical insights to the creative team and production partners.
- Coordinate with IT to ensure best practice for development of infrastructure to produce, store, backup and distribute assets.
- High degree of proficiency with industry-standard software and tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Cinema 4D, Blender, DaVinci Resolve, etc.)
- Possess a deep curiosity and a genuine passion for science, wildlife, and conservation.
- Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into compelling visual narratives.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Film/Television Production, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Minimum five (5) years professional experience as a video editor, with a portfolio demonstrating past work.
- Experience in science communication or creating content for educational and documentary purposes.
- Proven ability to cut engaging social content that stands out in the feed.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on projects with multiple contributors.
- Passion for wildlife conservation and cutting-edge scientific research.
