The New England School of Communications is looking for a part-time adjunct faculty member to teach courses in either Audio Engineering or Live Sound Production within the BS Audio Engineering (Bangor campus) degree. Courses with openings include AE 100 Audio Technology I and AE 103 Intro to Live Sound Production. These openings are during the Fall 2025 semester (8/25/25-12/12/25)

Examples of Duties

AE 100 Audio Technology I surveys the fundamental concepts of audio production. It introduces students to sound and psycho-acoustics, the principles of audio consoles and signal routing, and essential technologies such as loudspeakers, microphones, and signal processing. Throughout the course, students develop a common vocabulary relating to the audio industry, concepts, and career options. Lab work includes mixing and signal flow exercises.

AE 103 Intro to Live Sound Production introduces the concepts and practices of live sound engineering. Students learn analog console functionality, build signal flow knowledge, develop ear training skills. and practice how to properly set up a system for a live event.

The appropriate candidate would choose the course the best fits their knowledge, skills, and/or interests.

  • Provide students proper instruction with content, and utilize textbooks required for this course to achieve programmatic objectives
  • Accurately track and assess student progress and maintain Husson University standards
  • Advising the Academic Director on proposed curricular changes
  • Assisting the department in experiential assessments & exercises where appropriate
  • Assist in the research and assessment of industry trends and future technologies concerning curriculum
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Gathering data and preparing detailed documents
  • Representing the School off campus when appropriate
  • Serving on committees, as appropriate o Performing other duties as assigned by the administration

Typical Qualifications

A master’s degree in Audio Engineering/Technology, Music Production, Live Sound, or a related field, is required. Candidates with 7 or more years of industry & leadership experience in Audio Engineering/Technology, Music Production, Live Sound, or other related field may be considered in lieu of a master's degree.

Ph.D. Or Other Terminal Degree Is Preferred.

College-level teaching experience is preferred.

  • Rate is dependent upon the number of students enrolled in the course assigned.
