Cleaver Brooks is looking for a Designer to join our team in Milwaukee, WI. The Designer is responsible for creating all documentation required to build new products as well as updating and maintaining drawings as determined by the Department. Will also integrate and standardize the new products in the company systems. Candidate must be able to read and create drawings, understand Bills of Materials, and be able to determine what views and information are necessary to communicate with Plant Engineering and Manufacturing.

Essential Functions
- Acquire necessary knowledge involved in the successful accomplishment of duties.
- Support project engineers with the selection of standard OEM components, creation of fabrication and assembly drawings based on accurate 3D models, maintain accurate product structures for new and existing products.
- Prepare complete, accurate sets of drawings including BOMs, technical layouts, multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings, cross-sectional and subassembly drawings.
- Create accurate 3D models, determine most appropriate views, and prepare final drawings and supplementary information necessary to complete assignments.
- Utilize mathematical formulas to compute weights, load capacities, dimensions, quantities of material, etc.
- Interact with internal staff as well as vendors regarding technical issues pertaining to parts, design, usage, specifications, etc.
- Learn ERP system to accurately take out part numbers and load BOMs for production.
- Maintain an organized workflow so all required documentation is sent to other departments efficiently.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education
Basic Requirements:
- 2-3 year degree/certificate in Mechanical Drafting/Design or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- At least 3 years working with mechanical systems and equipment.
- Minimum of 3 years industry experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD required. Experience with Autodesk Vault is preferred.
Assets
- Experience with threaded and welded piping
- Experience designing and documenting sheet metal parts
- Experience with ASME pressure vessel design and documentation
- Knowledge of welding and pressure vessel code requirements
Preferred Skills
- Strong working knowledge of mechanics.
- Knowledge of machining processes, sheet metal fabrication, welding, materials, industrial piping & pressure vessels.
- Effective communication to understand project objectives and complete tasks.
- Ability to interface with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work in office and lab environments with equipment.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Creative and imaginative.
