Bobit Business Media Inc. ("BBM") is seeking an Associate Editor to join its team of media editors working across multiple brands. We welcome skilled professionals with relevant experience. The candidate should be a versatile content creator, reporter, and editor capable of managing multi-media and social media platforms, contributing significantly to our content brands. The role requires a good balance of journalism skills and social media/video expertise, including on-camera hosting. As a relatively junior role, it will also involve supporting content management of other editors as needed.

Headquartered in Torrance, CA, BBM employees work remotely from home. We are hiring in the following states/areas: AL, AZ, CA (except San Francisco), CT, FL, GA, IL, MI, MN, NC, NV, OH, OR, TN, WI.

Pay Range:

  • Hourly pay is $22 (equivalent to an annual salary of approximately $45,760).
  • Pay range is an estimate; posted pay does not guarantee or obligate a specific wage.

Responsibilities:

  1. Compile, write, and edit content across various niches and brands.
  2. Utilize content management systems, digital photo/video tools, and social media platforms to create and publish content.
  3. Manage and develop content for special projects.
  4. Ensure content is optimized for SEO and best practices.
  5. Conduct video interviews for online features and social media.
  6. Upload videos to YouTube, Anchor, and BBM CMS regularly.
  7. Be tech-savvy and comfortable on camera.
  8. Understand reels, hashtags, and produce short scripted videos.
  9. Develop creative social media content presentation methods.
  10. Proofread and copy edit content.
  11. Support content management of other editorial staff.
  12. Participate in print magazine editing and production workflows.
  13. Coordinate with outside contributors and freelancers.
  14. Meet deadlines and multitask effectively.
  15. Stay updated on industry trends and maintain professional relationships.
  16. Travel for trade shows, conferences, and media events.
  17. Follow company policies and directives.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of relevant media experience preferred, including digital/web reporting (business/financial reporting a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, digital media, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Excellent writing, reporting, copy editing, and proofreading skills; knowledge of AP style; video experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in SEO for content.
  • Fluency in social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram).
  • Tech-savvy, familiar with reels, hashtags, etc.
  • Comfortable on camera for videos.
  • Creative in content presentation on social media.
  • Proficient with digital platforms and tools.
  • Photography experience.
  • Self-motivated with strong project management skills.
  • Willing to follow content best practices and support team efforts.
