Minimum Starting Salary is $16.2225 hourly
The City of Waco seeks an ideal candidate who will provide excellent customer service, pay close attention to detail, and enjoy organizing books using alpha/numeric systems.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be at least 16 years old and pursuing or have completed a high school diploma or GED
- One month of customer service experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public Library experience
- Valid Texas Driver's License
Position Overview:
Under basic supervision, assists library patrons with locating items, checking out and returning materials, and other customer service tasks. Library Assistants provide friendly and timely assistance both in person and by phone.
Essential Functions:
- Shelve materials in proper order
- Move and organize library materials
- Maintain shelves by reviewing call numbers and reshelving misplaced items
- Assist the public and refer to other staff when needed
- Help with picking up abandoned materials and tidying public areas
- Provide excellent customer service internally and externally
