KVAL has an immediate opening for a creative Morning News Producer. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day production of our newscasts. This position will work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk, and Anchors on the newscast and its content. You will determine the content and flow of newscasts, work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories, and develop content for our websites.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Solid news judgment
- Be a compelling and accurate writer
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively to produce an engaging and informative newscast
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
- Flexibility and quick problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with non-linear editing and news rundowns
Experience:
- Previous news producing experience at a commercial or university TV station is preferred; entry-level candidates with the right skills may be considered
- Journalism degree required
