The Press & Sun-Bulletin, in Binghamton, N.Y., part of the USA TODAY Network, is seeking a sports reporter to join our team, find and share the key sports stories of the community.

The Press & Sun-Bulletin is the largest of six network newspapers in the Southern Tier and our next team member is expected to lead high school coverage for the Binghamton area and collaborate with our reporter in nearby Elmira on Section 4 athletics for New York state. This reporter will also occasionally report on Binghamton University and its NCAA Division I athletic department and the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets. The site also leads the coverage for an annual PGA Tour Champions event.

While the big games are still important, our readers also have demanded meaningful coverage off the field, too, and we need a reporter who can hunt down those stories. That includes breaking news, well-sourced enterprise, and interesting features on the key teams and athletes that are in the news during that sports season.

The Binghamton area features a lively college-town atmosphere and vibrant communities in nearby towns and villages. The city is just over an hour south of Syracuse, along the New York-Pennsylvania border, and it’s also just a three-hour drive from New York City, Buffalo and Philadelphia. Residents take advantage of the recreation in the two river valleys, and the Finger Lakes region and its renowned wineries and outdoors activities are a short daytrip away.
