Job Description

ECU School of Art Printmaking Area is seeking several Studio Lab Assistants to work in the printmaking area. The position requires a set weekly schedule and for active contributions to the printmaking area for the purpose of upkeep, maintenance, operations of facilities, and the educational mission of the studio. Some knowledge and experience of printmaking equipment and processes is required.


Position includes the following duties:

  • Assist replenishing solvent containers, process materials and acid baths.

  • Assist replenishing rags, newsprint and/or other regularly stock materials in the printmaking studios.

  • Work with Environmental Health Services for proper collection of chemicals and flammable materials.

  • Assist in maintaining facilities, equipment, and tools in the printmaking studios (lithography, intaglio, screen printing, and survey).

  • Repair and maintain equipment as needed in collaboration with area faculty and/or graduate students.

  • Move heavier items such as litho stones, tools, and equipment safely using proper methods for the purpose of studio lab courses activities and organization.

  • Maintain an inventory of supplies in stock and items to be reordered.

  • Assist students, faculty, and artists as assigned by the area coordinator to serve educational mission of the shop.

  • Contribute to maintaining cleanliness; including floors, sinks, counters, and equipment.

  • Contribute to organization and beautification of the printmaking area.

  • Maintain an activity log of hours.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the printmaking area faculty.


The Student Employee may be asked to work evenings and/or weekends to serve the above duties and students more effectively.
Hourly rate will be $10 per hour.
