The basics of this position:
Adjunct Technical Director - Spring 2025 - Oversees the operation of the technical aspects of a theatrical production including artistic, and personnel supervision. Designs, constructs, mounts and manages major theatre productions. Provides technical support for productions, and training of theatre systems to students. Responsible for insuring safety on set and when operating technical equipment.
What you'll do:
- Plans technical schedule for theatrical production.
- Serves as initial contact and liaison for all technical theatre students working on a production.
- Responsible for purchase of required equipment and services for production.
- Oversees design, construction and implementation of staging, scenery, lighting, props, costumes, sound and special effects.
- Schedules and trains in safe operation of stage production equipment.
- Administers established policies, procedures and protocol pertinent to the theater.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and other requirements:
The necessary skills and abilities would normally be acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree and three or more years of experience as a theater manager or technical director in a higher educational setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Rehearsals and productions mainly take place on evening and weekends.
May be on call to troubleshoot technical issues.
May be required to work at heights up to 35 feet, using personnel lifts, scaffolding, grids or catwalks.
Works with paints, solvents and Styrofoam.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Construction work is physically demanding.
May occasionally be required to lift equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
