IT/EAS is responsible for all aspects of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Database Management, Data Warehouse administration, Information Analytics (BI), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, Learning Management System (LMS), Document Management, Workflow, and www.du.edu web development.
Position Summary
The Web Developer II reports to the Lead, Web Development, and typically performs the duties of a mid-level back-end web developer. In partnership with University Relations and other areas within Information Technology, this position is responsible for the development and support of the University's web properties built primarily within enterprise Drupal and WordPress.
Essential Functions
Independently perform the following duties:
- Design and implement new features and functionality within the University's web properties built using Drupal.
- Develop wireframes and core site structure using Drupal.
- Install, configure, test, and manage modules and plugins within the enterprise Drupal platform.
- Adjust site parameters as needed.
- Provide high-speed and reliable site assets.
- Work closely with web specialists within the University Relations and unit stakeholders to ensure an effective, visually appealing, functional, brand-aligned, and intuitive implementation.
- Partner with web developers to ensure a device-responsive web design.
- Partner with a digital accessibility specialist to ensure accessibility of the du.edu website and all microsites.
- Follow secure coding principles to develop secure websites.
- Partner with University Relations and their web and digital experience team on web development and enhancement projects and requests.
- Develop detailed documentation and application guides for use by University Relations, Information Technology, and clients.
- Document design decisions while adhering to existing process guidelines.
- Manage the complete project lifecycle. Effectively communicate project status with the direct supervisor and project owner.
- High proficiency and understanding of web development and design.
- Good understanding of content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress.
- Strong knowledge of Drupal 9/10 site building, theming, and module development.
- Familiarity with Drupal APIs: Entity API, Form API, Plugin API, etc.
- Experience managing configuration using Configuration Management (config split, sync, etc.).
- Experience with Drush, Composer, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with hosting platforms like Acquia, Pantheon, or custom containers
- Understanding of site performance optimization, security best practices, and accessibility (WCAG)
- Knowledge of SQL, API, JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- General understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g., Client/Server, Internet/Intranet, Enterprise.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence, policies, and technical procedures. Ability to communicate effectively in various situations.
- Ability to utilize general mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts and analyze relevant data.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to prioritize and organize a high volume of work. Ability to take a sliver of a problem statement and ultimately design a solution.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
- Effective facilitation skills. Should be able to facilitate group discussions.
- Ability to be action-oriented. Should be able to follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes.
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Three years or more of experience in Drupal development.
- Five years or more of experience in web development using one or more content management systems.
- Proficiency with web editors, HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Experience working with file formats/prep for web-based images, video, and audio. Familiarity with web standards.
- Ability to provide technical service and support to diverse campus clients.
- Requires excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as React or Vue.js.

- Unexpected interruptions occur often, and the stress level is moderate to high.
- Noise level is quiet to moderate.
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. evening and weekends as needed.
In accordance with the University's flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial or full remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 12.
Salary Rate
The salary rate for this position is $85,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate's sex or any other protected status.
