Overview

With a unique cross-functional perspective, technical writers play a critical role in connecting vital but disparate parts of large-scale ecosystems. Data center technical writers manage documentation projects and produce high-quality content such as procedures, technical guides, policies, engineering documents, and training modules. This role supports complex data center operations and requires the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, usable documentation.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

• Produce, revise, and maintain documentation that adheres to global standards and is easily understood by diverse audiences.
• Write and edit documents for complex technical systems and processes by collaborating with cross-functional teams and conducting independent research.
• Organize existing documentation, identify gaps, and develop solutions to improve clarity, usability, and completeness.
• Scope and manage documentation projects or programs to support data center operations, including resource planning, scheduling, and deliverables.
• Act as a subject matter expert in technical writing best practices, documentation styles, and content management.
• Model strong communication skills and contribute to documentation strategy across the organization.
  
  

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) and 10+ years of technical writing experience.
• Proven experience managing documentation projects, including planning, researching, writing, and editing technical content.
• Strong command of American English with demonstrated experience in creating structured documentation sets.
• Ability to understand and document technical systems, gained through work as a technical writer, engineer, scientist, or similar.
• Experience with content management systems and large documentation sets.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in technical communication, linguistics, journalism, engineering, science, or a related field.
• Knowledge of data center operations, life cycle, and large-scale industrial environments.
• Experience translating business requirements into clear documentation (e.g., SOPs, engineering documents, training modules).
• Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or PMP frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally across engineering, operations, and business teams.
  
  

Compensation range for position is $162,000 – 180,000 DOE.
