Position Description:

As a content specialist, you will create engaging content that populates a variety of digital and traditional platforms at Texas Tech University, including websites, blogs, printed material, advertisements, social media and more. You will work closely with leadership in the Office of Communications and Marketing and other university stakeholders to write content that adheres to brand standards and effectively engages target audiences.

A Web Content Specialist focuses on developing, managing and optimizing digital content for Texas Tech’s Administration & Finance web platforms. This position is ideal for a creative individual with a passion for web content strategy, user experience and digital storytelling. Position works closely with leadership in Marketing & Communications, Administration & Finance and other university stakeholders to create engaging, accessible, and brand-aligned web content that enhances user experience and effectively communicates key messages.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Update and maintain website content using the university’s content management system (CMS).

  • Write and edit web copies to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.

  • Upload images, videos, and other multimedia elements to enhance web content.

  • Work with team members to ensure web pages align with university branding and messaging.

  • Assist with website organization, content updates , creation of new pages, and redesigning existing pages to fit current brand standards.

  • Monitor web pages for outdated or incorrect information and make necessary revisions.

  • Support content migration and other website-related projects.

  • Help other website managers across the Administration & Finance division with trouble shooting issues and content strategy.

Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with content management systems and digital marketing tools.

  • Strong writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail and grammar.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both external and internal audiences.

  • Understanding of SEO best practices and experience with keyword research.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Experience using a content management system (CMS) to update web content.

  • Proficient understanding of HTML, CSS and Java Script code.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Experience with basic image editing tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
