Job Description
As a Substation Physical Designer, you will collaborate in a project team environment with engineers and other designers, focusing on high and extra high voltage substation design. Your role will involve the preparation of detailed substation drawings.
Responsibilities

Prepare Substation General Arrangement drawings

Develop Substation Electrical Equipment Plans

Create Substation Section Views (Elevations)

Compile Substation Detailed Bill of Material

Design Substation Lightning Stroke Shielding Plan
-
Draft Substation Grounding Plan
-
Detail Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection, and Grounding specifics
-
Prepare Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan

Design Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, and Grounding Plans and Sections
Essential Skills
-
Proficiency in substation design, particularly high voltage systems

Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation

Ability to visualize parts in 3D without computer assistance

Minimum of 3 years of substation physical design experience
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- An Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma with additional drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience
Work Environment
The position offers a hybrid schedule in the Minneapolis office, with flexibility. The company is a long-standing, privately held firm ranked 36 on ENR's top 500 design firms. They are open to other locations if they have an office you can go into.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
