Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications and PR Intern to join our team for Fall 2025. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate who is a critical thinker, has a strong foundation in technical and strategic writing, understands AP style, and is eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced communications environment. The intern will support various writing, editing, and content development projects across platforms and mediums.


Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit content including press releases, white papers, op-eds, internal announcements, and executive bios.
  • Support the development of strategic communication plans, including message development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist in the creation of internal newsletters, including copyediting, layout coordination, and asset collection.
  • Contribute to thought leadership content such as quote graphics, speaker remarks, and editorial pieces.
  • Conduct background research and synthesize complex topics into accessible, engaging narratives.
  • Support corporate giving and community engagement messaging and campaigns.
  • Ensure consistency in voice and style across all written materials, adhering to AP style and brand guidelines.
  • Provide communications support for events, webinars, and executive engagements.
  • Help monitor media mentions, coverage, and social trends to inform content opportunities.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of AP Style is required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to write for various audiences and formats
  • Interest or experience in corporate communications, nonprofit storytelling, or government/public sector work
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high intensity environment is required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and basic design tools (Canva or Adobe a plus)
  • Writing samples required to be submitted upon request from hiring manager
  • Interest in Bizzell’s core focus areas, including global programs, health solutions, workforce innovation, behavioral health, and social impact initiatives
  • Ideal: Experience drafting talking points, blog posts, or social media copy

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Ability to maintain a stationary position to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Must be able to identify, analyze, and assess detailed information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and exchange information clearly with others.
