Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Network Engineer

NextGen is seeking a candidate with a broad engineering background to support US Marshals hosted infrastructure supporting agents in the field. Infrastructure includes Compute, Storage, Virtualization, Networking, and Applications. The individual will support both on-premise equipment and hosted infrastructure in Azure GovCloud. The candidate should have extensive experience creating and maintaining robust network architectures to ensure high availability and resiliency.

Required Qualifications

  • Top Secret clearance (Individuals with current Secret clearance may be considered.)
  • At least 5 years’ experience planning, designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing network configurations and architectures.
  • Experience managing Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls; including installation, configuration, operation, and troubleshooting of high-availability routed and switched networks.
  • Proficiency with configuration, software/firmware upgrades, and troubleshooting of platforms such as ISR 4000 Series Routers, Cisco Nexus Switches, Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco FTD firewalls, and Cisco AnyConnect VPN.
  • Knowledge of Firepower, Cisco ISE, and managing FTD firewalls via Cisco's FMC.
  • Experience implementing URL filtering rules and SSL Inspection.
  • Design, configuration, and optimization of networks with more than 100 remote sites, including local and wide area networking, TCP/IP, and web technologies.
  • Ability to design and draft network diagrams for modernization of current and future infrastructures, both on-premise and cloud-hosted.
  • Understanding of IT best practices for installing, maintaining, integrating, and supporting hardware, software, and services; including recommending improvements.
  • Incident management skills, coordinating with service providers and agencies to maintain network continuity.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining security templates and configuration baselines following agency guidelines such as DoD STIGs.
  • Knowledge of software and systems development life cycles, performance measurement, and security measures.
  • Experience with application load balancers to enhance security and availability.
  • Managing Cisco ISE for device administration, posturing, and profiling.
  • Experience with SolarWinds modules for configuration changes, performance monitoring, and alerting.
  • Maintaining remote access VPN via Secure Endpoint.

Desired Qualifications

  • Additional experience with CCNA Route and Switch – Data Center, CCNP Route and Switch, Cisco AMP, Cisco UCS, Cisco Duo MFA, Cisco Wi-Fi technologies, CradlePoint routers, Palo Alto firewalls, Azure networking tools, ARM templates, SMS gateway services, and WAN bonding is highly desirable but not required.
