Required:Utah Library Media License or Utah Educator License with Library Media (K-12) Endorsement.

• Student behavior management skills in both classroom settings and with large groups of students during their free time
• Teaching and curriculum development experience
• Experience working with high school students
• Knowledge of research skills, Knowledge of copyright, & Ability to manage a budget
• Adept at working with technology (great if they’ve used Destiny, but if not, they should be able to pick up computer programs easily). We regularly use Destiny, Google Suite, and Canva.
• Knowledge of young adult literature and how to engage teenagers in reading
• Creative and able to implement small- and large-scale library/reading promotional activities
• Cataloging skills (for example editing MARC records, assigning genres, and creating call numbers)
• Collection development experience of physical and digital materials/resources (ability to purchase relevant and interesting fiction and nonfiction materials and to update and weed the collection to keep it current)
• Ability to manage, train, and supervise adult staff
• Strong organizational and time-management skills: must be able to balance a variety of tasks throughout the day and oversee the daily operations of the library and copy center.
• Detail-oriented, People-oriented (works directly with students and teachers and addresses parents concerns)
• Collaborative (works with other departments, teachers, and district librarians)
• Problem-solving abilities, Calm under pressure and when managing competing priorities
• Welcoming and helpful attitude to create a positive, inclusive atmosphere
• Enhances personal librarianship through professional development and contributes to the field of librarianship
• Ability to defuse conflict, Strong communication skills, Ability to use data to make decisions & Ability to set and implement long term vision/goals

UTAH STATE RETIREMENT

Benefit eligible employees are automatically members of the Utah Retirement Systems (URS). This means that the District contributes into the URS plan on your behalf each month. After the URS vesting period of four years, you will have either the Hybrid option, which is a combination of a pension with a 401k plan, or the 401k option if you choose. Both plans are employer-paid. You can also choose to enhance your retirement with URS by contributing additional money from your paychecks into a 401k, 457, Traditional IRA, or Roth IRA.
