Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in music therapy from an accredited program.

● Current MT-BC (Music Therapist–Board Certified) credential.

● Minimum 2 years of clinical experience, preferably in a behavioral health setting. ● Experience working with clients across multiple levels of care (residential, PHP, IOP) strongly preferred.

● Knowledge of CBT, DBT, and mindfulness principles and ability to integrate them into music therapy interventions.

● Strong group facilitation, communication, and collaboration skills.

● Proficiency in a variety of musical instruments and styles.

Position Overview:

Position Summary Provides therapeutic music interventions for groups across residential, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care. Is comfortable working with a spectrum of age groups from adolescent to adult. Operates as part of HopeWay’s client-centered holistic programming, utilizing music therapy to support client goals such as emotion identification, self-expression, positive coping skills, emotional processing, and increased self-awareness. Integrates music therapy with evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, mindfulness practices, and other relevant frameworks. Engages clients through success-oriented, socially inclusive activities such as active music-making, music sharing, songwriting, and other creative experiences—helping to reduce stigma, promote wellness, and foster connection.

Primary Responsibilities ● Facilitate group music therapy sessions for clients navigating mental health challenges at the residential, PHP, and IOP levels of care for various ages from adolescent to adult. ● Incorporate mindfulness practices into therapy sessions to help clients remain present and engaged. ● Actively participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to share clinical insights and collaborate on individualized care plans. ● Provide group coverage for other integrative therapy services as needed (e.g., recreation therapy, art therapy, horticultural therapy, nutrition education).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities ● Deliver evidence-based group therapy interventions from your specialty area. ● Document client participation, progress, and treatment outcomes accurately in the electronic health record system. ● Maintain ethical standards and treat all clients, families, and colleagues with respect and dignity. ● Serve as an active, integral member of the integrative therapy and clinical teams.
