Part time | $15-$17 DOE

Please note that in addition to weekday shifts, this position also requires availability for some weekend shifts.

We are looking for a motivated individual to teach students at Discovery Ranch music and prepare them for performances.

This role supports our performing arts programs and ensures smooth operations within our department. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing scheduling
  2. Departmental correspondence
  3. Maintaining organized records
  4. Planning and executing rehearsals, performances, and workshops as needed
  5. Serving as a liaison among staff and students
  6. Assisting in creating and developing performing arts projects
  7. Tracking program budgets and expenditures
  8. Providing support during rehearsals, performances, and off-campus events

Jammerz responsibilities: Help kids come together with music to form their own band and prepare for performances. Teach each kid their instruments (guitar, bass, piano, vocals, drums), help them learn to play in rhythm and as a group. Develop appropriate repertoire based on skill level and theme. Conduct regular auditions.

Main Objectives: Teach skills to help kids become more knowledgeable and confident in their performing arts and musical abilities.

Essential Functions: Support rehearsals, assist girls in preparing for music and dance performances.

Work environment: Mainly inside the academic building, but it is a ranch environment with animals and varied weather conditions such as wind, rain, snow, ice, extreme heat, or cold. Grounds include rocks, uneven terrain, cement, grass, dirt, and mud. It can be noisy inside and outside.

Physical demands: Regularly hearing and talking, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, sitting, lifting up to 30 lbs, reaching overhead. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Temperature is regulated for comfort.

  • Basic knowledge of guitars, including tuning and restringing
  • Understanding of piano, guitar, bass, drums, and ukulele
  • Knowledge of setting up and using amps and microphones
  • Availability for all-day trips and concerts 4-6 times a year
  • 21+ years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Eligible to work in the USA
  • Ability to pass background and motor vehicle record checks
  • Current Utah driver's license within 30 days of employment
