Statement of the Job

The Video Producer, reporting to the Senior Video Producer, will lead the creation and execution of video content across multiple channels. This role involves transforming storyboards and concepts into compelling, high-quality videos that educate, inspire, and engage audiences, supporting ticket sales and promoting the arts and LA Phil’s community role.

The Video Team aims to :

  • Create diverse and beautiful content across various topics and styles.
  • Produce high-volume content reflecting the organization’s many programs.
  • Prioritize impactful and equitable storytelling for local and global audiences.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture of open-mindedness and continuous learning.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of video content creation, including pre-production, production, and post-production processes.
  • Coordinate with production crews, secure locations, and obtain permits.
  • Create video content aligned with LA Phil’s brand messaging to support marketing and institutional narratives.
  • Ensure projects meet high creative standards, deadlines, and budget constraints.
  • Develop video content strategies with various departments for websites, social media, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with departments to turn project briefs into actionable plans.
  • Train, onboard, and share knowledge within the Video Team.
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, guest artist management, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure rights and licensing compliance with Legal and Media Initiatives departments.
  • Manage video assets, gear inventory, security, and archives.
  • Source, edit, and clear rights for external use of video assets.
  • Work with senior staff to manage budgets, schedules, and feedback.
  • Use analytics to refine video strategies.
  • Travel with LA Phil for content production during tours as needed.
  • Implement emerging video platforms and techniques, including 360-degree and VR content.
  • Track and finalize project expenses.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on video and audio production experience.
  • Ability to film and direct crews across various styles, including using gimbals and managing lighting and sound rigs.
  • Ability to operate independently as a solo shooter if needed.
  • Experience in recording, editing, mixing, and mastering audio.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and digital audio workstations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized, efficient, and proactive.
  • Flexible schedule for nights and weekends for events.
  • Experience managing motion graphics and performing copy editing, proofreading, and research.
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience capturing live performances; knowledge of classical music is a plus.
  • Knowledge of latest video technologies and trends.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Secondary language skills are a plus.
