The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a nonprofit global health organization committed to building a world in which everyone is able to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Learn more about CHAI .

CHAI is looking for dynamic and self-motivated individuals who are committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other illnesses. While we seek highly skilled individuals, we also place the greatest value on personal qualities: resourcefulness, a strong sense of responsibility, tenacity, independence, humility, and dedication to our mission.

CHAI is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and is committed to providing an environment of fairness, and mutual respect where all applicants have access to equal employment opportunities. One of our core values is diversity and inclusion, and we recognize that our mission is best advanced by the leadership and contributions of people with diverse experience, backgrounds, and culture.

CHAI is launching a high-priority initiative to support governments in responding to growing financial pressures—including recent global health funding cuts—and building more resilient, integrated, and sustainable health systems. Through this effort, we are embedding nimble technical teams within Ministries of Health and other key institutions to provide strategic, data-driven support—addressing urgent financing challenges while driving long-term reform.

We are currently hiring for new roles that will sit within CHAI’s Health Systems Strengthening team. These roles offer a unique opportunity to support country-led transformation during a pivotal moment for global health.

CHAI seeks individuals from a diverse range of academic and professional backgrounds who are passionate about increasing access to quality healthcare in resource-limited settings. We look for candidates that are hardworking, humble, and motivated by our mission. We look for people at all stages of their careers, from recent graduates to seasoned professionals.

We are very fortunate to receive a considerable number of applications each year. Due to the high volume, we are only able to contact those candidates who best match the position requirements. Once you have done the initial interview with a member of the Talent Acquisition team, it typically takes between 1 and 3 months to complete the remaining steps.

Application

You can view and apply for current openings online through our Careers Portal. You can sort positions by job type, program area or location to find jobs that fit your specific career interests. While cover letters are encouraged, they are not required — we’d prefer candidates spend more time refining a strong, clear resume. If you do choose to include a cover letter, we recommend that it speak broadly to your interest in CHAI’s mission and work. If a more tailored letter is needed for a specific role, a recruiter will reach out to you directly.

Selection

Once we receive your application, we select profiles that best match the position advertised. If you are selected for an interview, the recruitment team will contact you via email. Most successful candidates should expect to hear from our Talent Acquisition Team within 2-4 weeks.

HR Interview

If your application is selected, you will be invited to conduct a preliminary phone or in-person interview with one of CHAI’s Talent Acquisition representatives. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, not everyone will be contacted for an initial interview. Depending on the position you apply for, you may also be asked to complete a technical exercise. If this is a required part of the process, the Talent Acquisition representative will brief you on what to expect during your initial HR interview.

Shortlist

Applicants who successfully complete the first steps of the process will be invited to speak to the hiring manager in the relevant program or department. Most roles at CHAI will require strong communication abilities, excellent project management, and solid analytical skills. For these reasons, most hiring manager interviews will strive to assess both your team fit and your technical skills. It is common for interviews to have both behavioral and technical case elements. If the role requires any additional language skills, those abilities will also be evaluated during this stage. For applicants, this is your opportunity to meet the manager and ask for more information about the position. On average, candidates will complete two to five interviews with the manager and other members of the team.

Offer

Once the hiring manager has made a final decision, you will be notified and the successful applicant will be sent an offer letter.
