Reporting to the Assistant Production Manager, we are seeking an Audio Engineer who will provide a professional and safe performance environment to the Peabody Institute students, faculty, staff, patrons and guests. This is a casual/as-needed position; hours are flexible and include daytime and evenings and weekends as appropriate to the staffing needs of the department.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads audio set-ups, tune and troubleshoot audio system for concerts, masterclasses and recitals.
- Troubleshoots complex audio systems to ensure all concerts run smoothly.
- Works in close partnership with the Stage Manager and other members of the production team, conductors, artistic directors and students to provide audio support.
- Operates Front of House Audio console including both digital and analogue mixers.
- Experience with digital consoles.
- Familiarity with large and small format PA set-up and design.
- Professional demeanor, superior communication skills, comfort in high-pressure situations, adaptable, solutions-oriented problem solver.
- Understanding of the principals of EQ, Compression as well as familiarity with a wide variety of microphones and microphone techniques.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with proven ability to effectively prioritize workload.
- Ability to work long hours and nontraditional shifts: evenings and weekends due to performance schedule.
- Ability to walk, stand, climb for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Bachelors Degree in production (theatrical or event).
- Two to Three years of experience in production or related field.
- Additional experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
- Three to Five years of technical theater and audio experience.

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
