The College of Social Work has an embedded IT team that works with the college to support its IT needs and advance its mission.

Responsibilities

The Web Developer is a part of the Information Technology team at the College of Social Work, but also works closely with the communications team to design, develop, maintain and troubleshoot web-related services. The individual selected for this role will be a subject matter expert for this group and is responsible for researching, coordinating and implementing best practices.

Develop, design, implement, and maintain customized web-related solutions and strategies for the College of Social Work. This includes reviewing and maintaining the accessibility, governance, data organization, and optimization of the colleges main Drupal websites, including, but not limited to https://csw.fsu.edu Brevard Network website (https://brevardnet.csw.fsu.edu/)

Research and assess department web content needs. Recommend and test designs, features, and functionality, including ADA compliance

Utilize Search Engine Optimization through testing, analyzing, and website updates to optimize the main CSW website. Optimize the website's search results on major search engines such as Google and Bing.

Provide support with Google analytics and other website reporting for the main CSW websites.

Stay current with the latest technologies and utilize industry best-practice web-based standards and techniques.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Drupal site building.

Experience with search engine optimization.

Who is an ideal candidate for this position?

Someone who works well with others and also is a self-motivator and can work independently. Ability to problem solve, organize information, and prioritize deadlines. Candidate should be very familiar with building and maintaining websites, adhering to best practices and industry standards. Familiarity with Drupal is preferred.

What is a typical day in this position?

Analyzing accessibility reports, and optimizing and maintaining College of Social Work website. Prioritizing service requests depending on urgency. Updating and creating new webpages based on the needs of units.

What can I expect in the first 60-90 days?

The first 90 days will include working with the current IT and marketing team to familiarize yourself with the structure of the CSW website, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the current organization of sites and files. This will require working with the same team as well as the FSU ITS web team to clean up and restructure the website to meet accessibility and industry standards for the Drupal site.
