Job Description
Library Teacher (FT) (posted 8/29/2025): Candidates should have a minimum of two years' experience, preferably in a formal elementary school setting. Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required. This position is a 12 month contract and involves managing library class visits for K-5 students, managing student and faculty library accounts and library website, overseeing textbook acquisition, distribution, and collection, library book acquisition, organizing and managing book fairs and reading programs, overseeing take-home reading distribution for lower elementary students, curriculum budgeting, purchasing, and distribution, end-of-year inventory and checkout of all faculty, as well as managing library aides and parent volunteers. Candidates must demonstrate an enduring love of youth, a love of teaching and learning, and a desire to work in a faith-based atmosphere aligned with values taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Successful candidates will also demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills, high energy, experience in preparing and delivering daily lesson plans, experience establishing and communicating clear learning objectives, ability to use various pedagogical methods, and willingness to learn. Candidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor. They should also be willing and able to uphold and serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement on and off campus. Position available for the 2023-24 school year.
- Successful candidates should demonstrate:

- broad knowledge and deep intelligence about the subject matter taught so that students become interested in the details and relevance of each subject; students will draw deeply on the teacher as a source of inspiration, wisdom, and relevance.
- strong management skills, including the ability to stay organized and implement routines that are purposeful and effective.
- a habit of communicating with employees and parents in ways that are timely, collaborative, precise, helpful, and positive.
- ability to use a variety of pedagogical methods that engage students in active reasoning and relating.
- Special education training (in teaching students with specific learning disabilities) is helpful, but is not required.
- Proficiency in technological skills including documents and spreadsheets.
- The ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a high stress environment.
- A teaching demonstration will be required of top candidates.

AHS prefers to fill its extracurricular athletics coaching openings with employees (teachers, aides, etc.) who also have skills and interest in coaching athletics.
