Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior CAD Designer to be based in Denver, Colorado; Oakland, California; or Sacramento, California. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to lead work on a variety of projects including but not limited to: expansions of tailings facilities; conceptual designs of spillway upgrades/retrofit alternatives; hydro-pumped storage projects; stormwater mediation, seepage water detention, and more.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Extensive experience with Autodesk Civil 3D through release 2022, emphasizing complex and advanced surface modeling capabilities.
- Ability to take general direction and simple sketches from engineers to develop design criteria and progress through all design stages.
- Design and surface modeling for damsearth-fill, rockfill, concrete, RCC embankments, spillways, outlet works, foundations, and drains.
- Design and modeling for mining projectstailings storage, embankments, seepage ponds, utility corridors, waste rock piles, and more.
- Civil/site worksite development, access roads, drainage, detention ponds, stream restoration, etc.
- Preparation of detailed calculation packages for earthwork quantities, reservoir capacity, and tailings storage.
- Processing data sources to build existing surfaces from LiDAR, survey points, DEMs, etc.
- Understanding coordinate systems and data transformation.
- Data management throughout project lifecycle.
- Client meetings for project kickoff, review, and closeout.
- Working under limited supervision, performing routine and complex design assignments requiring judgment.
- Field and survey experience is a plus.
- Providing leadership and direction for CAD technologies within project teams.
- Leading investigations, studies, and design development for large infrastructure projects, focusing on dams and mining.
- Preparing and presenting technical reports verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree and 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong technical progression in civil engineering and design.
- Knowledge of industry standards.
- Experience with Civil 3D, BIM360, ProjectWise, Excel, Google Earth, NavisWorks, ESRI GIS, InfraWorks, Vehicle Tracking, ReCap, MicroStation, OpenRoads, OpenGround, GeoPak, Revit.
